Old faithful

Wow, been quite a while, huh? That’s what happens when work gets in the way, but of course someone’s gotta bring the bread, or nasi ayam, to the table.

And speaking of ‘longevity’, our faithful Hitachi microwave oven that joined the family circa 1985 has finally gone to electrical heaven.

When my brother first brought it back from the UK (not Japan, oddly enough) we were a bit sakai with this fireless oven. My sis taught me how to roast Ayam Madu in it, though my eyes didn’t blink when she pulled out the rather anaemic-looking but cooked result. Early microwave technology of course did not change the colour of the food. But over time, many more versions were produced, though not necessarily better. Ours served us for 29 years! Says a lot about the brand!

  1. Sorry to hear abt the oven. But I am impressed that it lasted for 29 years, and I’m sure it did serve well during its years. May it rest in peace in electrical heaven.
